Description:
In April 2007, Rug & Home pledged $100,000 to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Hendersonville, which they used to establish an endowment fund for their palliative care program. Palliative care, unlike hospice, focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients undergoing treatment for chronic or curable diseases. Palliative care, similarly to hospice, uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care to address not only the physical ailments that come with terminal illness, but also the emotional, spiritual and social concerns that patients may be facing.

Due to the Rug & Home founders’ personal experience with hospice and the care they provide at the end of life, and due to the need for support in this newly launched initiative of palliative care, they were touched by the work that Four Seasons in Hendersonville engages in and wanted to find a way to help. The founders felt the endowment fund would be the best way to provide ongoing support for this extraordinary cause.

Additionally, the Rug & Home founders held a benefit to raise awareness for this cause in April 2007 and were able to assist in spreading the word about palliative care and Four Seasons’ need for support. See the album of pictures above from this event.
