Tribal rugs have been a part of many cultures for centuries, and are becoming more and more popular in design spaces too! I will even go as far to say that these Rugs are on fire!
Rug and Home has authentic Bohemians, Persians, Kazaks, Ikats, Dhurries, Southwestern "Navajo" inspired tribal rugs, and lets not forget the Soft and Plush Moroccan Rugs. Just to name a few.
First and foremost Let's define Tribal- Tribal art is the visual arts and material culture of indigenous peoples from around the world. These particular rugs have been around for hundreds of years and were all hand knotted and made from wool. They were used for many purposes not only in the cities as rugs; but were used to wrap clothing, tools, and food for the people that made them. Tribal rugs were made into tents to shelter people from the element's. Many people made tribal rug’s rich with their family’s history to sell in city markets and to give as wedding gifts.
Tribal rugs stand out from the crowd with their large and small medallions, symbols, bold geometric patterns, colors, and styles. All tribal rugs differ depending on what "Tribe" and what part of the world they were made in. Nowadays designers like to refer to these rugs as having an “Aztec" motif, being able to tie into simple but rich interior designs.
